The First China Conference On Microwave Ablation concluded successfully

The " First China Conference On Microwave Ablation" was held grandly from December 11th to 13th, 2015, at The Purple Palace in Nanjing. The forum was organized by the Tumor Minimally Invasive Treatment Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, the Chinese Tumor Minimally Invasive Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, and the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. It was hosted by ECO Medical Technology (Nanjing) Co.,Ltd.




The "First China Conference On Microwave Ablation" received extensive response, support, and recognition from domestic experts in the field of ablation. During the conference, hundreds of experts and scholars from all over the country gathered together to exchange ideas, engage in in-depth discussions, and build consensus


The opening ceremony was addressed by Prof. Hong Wang, the President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Prof. Xuehao Wang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Director of the Liver Surgery Research Institute at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, and Prof. Baozhong Shen(represented by Prof. Wanhai Xu), the Chairman of the Tumor Minimally Invasive Treatment Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and the President of the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University.

Subject Development Topics


 


Prof. Fujun Zhang, Associate Director of the Minimally Invasive and Interventional Department at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, provided a retrospective and prospective overview of the current status and development trends in tumor ablation therapy.

 



Prof. Ping Liang, Director of the Interventional Ultrasound Department at the Chinese PLA General Hospital, started by discussing the history of microwave ablation and then delved into the clinical research of this technique. Additionally, she provided insights into the possible directions for future development in the field of microwave ablation.

 



Mr. Liangjun Sun, Chairman and President of ECO Medical Technology (Nanjing) Co.,Ltd., provided insights from an engineering and technical perspective on the key points of development in microwave ablation. He also introduced the collaborative microwave ablation robotics project with the University of Houston in the United States. The presentation of several pioneering technologies developed by ECO Microwave Systems Engineering received enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Prof. Mingde Lv, Director of the Institute of Ultrasound Diagnosis and Interventional Ultrasound at Sun Yat-sen University, compared the treatment of liver cancer through microwave ablation with surgical resection. He highlighted the advantages of microwave ablation in the treatment of liver cancer.

 


Prof. Lianbao Kong, Associate Director of the Department of General Surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, provided a detailed interpretation of the application of microwave ablation in hepatic surgery. He also discussed preventive and treatment measures for potential complications that may arise during procedure.

 


Prof. Yong Jin, Director of the Interventional Department at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, provided a comprehensive explanation of CT-guided microwave ablation treatment for liver tumors, incorporating detailed clinical case images.

 



Prof. Bo Zhai, Director of the Minimally Invasive Interventional Department at Renji Hospital, affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, provided a detailed and easily understandable analysis of complex liver tumor microwave ablation treatment based on his extensive clinical experience.

Prof. Weijun Fan, Chief Radiologist at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, explained the delayed complications associated with thermal ablation of lung tumors and provided a detailed explanation of the preventive and treatment measures for these complications.

Prof. Hongyi Zhang, Chief of the Hepatobiliary Surgery Department at the Air Force General Hospital, provided a detailed explanation of laparoscopic microwave liver resection for the treatment of liver tumors. He combined his extensive clinical experience to discuss the advantages and limitations of microwave ablation technology in the treatment of liver cancer.

 



Prof. Min Xie, Chief Physician of the Department of General Surgery at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, provided an exposition on the current research status and advancements in intraoperative ablation treatment for locally advanced pancreatic body and tail cancer. He also discussed the future directions for development in this field.

 



Prof. Yonghui Chen, Director of the Urology Department (Tumor Division) at Shanghai Renji Hospital (East Campus), gave a presentation on the application of microwave ablation in early-stage renal tumors. He elucidated the advantages of microwave ablation in the treatment of early-stage kidney tumors and highlighted the future research focus in clinical studies.

He then provided a detailed and lively explanation of the key points, precautions, and case selection for thyroid ablation procedure.
