From February 23 to 26, CCMA entered India and the 19th Indian Vascular and Interventional Radiology Annual Conference was held in Kolkata, India. On the same day, the Indian Society of Interventional Vascular Radiology (ISVIR), the China Conference on Microwave Ablation (CCMA), the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), the South Asian Regional Alliance (SAARC) and the Singapore Society of Radiology (SSR) discussed the development trends and innovative applications of microwave ablation technology. We shared and exchanged information on clinical issues and decided to take a series of measures to improve the application of microwave ablation technology around the world and strengthen cooperation among various organizations in this field.
The "CCMA Enters India" conference held on February 24th became a highly anticipated and important section of this year's Indian annual meeting. CCMA experts, including Prof. Jie Wang, Prof. Zhengqiang Yang, and Prof. Mingan Yu, delivered keynote speeches on the achievements and clinical applications of microwave ablation in China, receiving a warm welcome from the international experts in attendance.
Complementary to Internationalization Strategy
Dr. M C Uthappa, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, stated in an interview that the CCMA Enters India conference is an important opportunity to promote the adoption of microwave ablation technology in India. He particularly emphasized that the assistance provided by the Chinese expert team in sharing their experiences and achievements goes beyond mere technical support, offering further advancements in the field.
Brain Stainken from the American Society of Radiology expressed his strong agreement with CCMA's internationalization concept, believing that CCMA will play a significant role in global communication in the field of ablation. He also expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation with CCMA, emphasizing the need to promptly implement academic exchanges. He further mentioned considering organizing an expert team to participate in the third CCMA forum.
Mr. Liangjun Sun, Secretary-General of CCMA, introduced that this conference is an important part of the cooperation framework with international interventional radiology associations. It aims to enhance support at the expert level, helping to improve the coverage and application level of microwave ablation in India. Against the backdrop of China's "Belt and Road" initiative, CCMA aims to enhance its core competitiveness of "sharing, cooperation, and win-win" and facilitate the rapid internationalization of China's high-end treatment equipment, technology, and experts, showcasing CCMA's influence on a global scale.
Currently, countries in the South Asian region, including India, have relatively low levels of microwave ablation technology application. Due to constraints in comprehensive national strength and healthcare conditions, there is a shortage of equipment, technology, and expert resources in various regions. CCMA will actively promote the rapid development of this technology in India and the South Asian region.
Sharing Leading Technology with the World
Undoubtedly, the collaborative efforts at the association level provide an excellent platform for experts to expand their presence abroad, meeting the urgent needs for the development of the ablation industry in India and the South Asian region, which means huge demand for equipment, technology, and expertise. On one hand, it represents the rise of China's independent high-end treatment equipment, and on the other hand, it signifies the international landing of Chinese microwave ablation experts.
