In May 2017, Dr. Amrit Koirala from the Department of Interventional Radiology at Nepal Cancer Hospital, visited Yunnan Cancer Hospital in China for a one-week training program on ultrasound-guided microwave ablation techniques. During the training, Dr. Koirala had the opportunity to observe Dr. Lichun Yang, Director of the Ultrasound Department, perform microwave ablation procedures for thyroid nodules. As one of the few interventional radiologists in Nepal, Dr. Koirala aimed to bring back the advanced microwave ablation technology from China to benefit patients in Nepal.

Currently, ECO microwave ablation system have been introduced to the two largest cancer hospitals in Nepal. Moreover, the Nepal Cancer Hospital has established a friendly relationship with Yunnan Cancer Hospital.
